Senior Pastor

I was raised in a very liberal Jewish home without religion. In my senior year of high school I was invited to a church and heard the message of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. A week later, I got on my knees and asked God to show me whether or not Jesus was the Messiah. Through a series of events, He showed me that Jesus was indeed the Messiah, at which time I changed my mind about Christ and trusted in Him alone for my salvation.

That was 53 years ago.

I then spent three years, one month, and one day in the U.S. Air Force followed by a stint at Moody Bible Institute studying the Bible and working in ministry.

I have been married to Jeri for 40 years.

My vision for our church is that we would be a body of believers that live faithful, consistent, Christ-centered lives.

If you like textual, exegetical teaching lathered in sarcastic humor, you might find my sermons interesting.

Here’s to meeting you soon!

Worship Director

God saved me at a very young age. I remember sitting in the pews listening to the lady on the piano and singing songs that were read off of a laminate projector. And from as early in my childhood as I can recall, music has been a huge part of my life. I picked up my first guitar at the age of 5. By age 12, I was actively playing and singing for a small local church. God called me to serve, and I answered. In November of 2012 I became a part of the family here at Petra Bible Church. In all of my years volunteering on a worship team, I never imagined that I would be serving as a worship leader.

Worship is important. It is defined as “the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration.” Worship is a time when we pay deep, sincere, awesome respect, love, and fear to the one who created us. Acts 17:24-25 says “The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.” (ESV)

Jesus tells the woman at the well, “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in sprit and truth,” John 4:23-24 (ESV).
